After following the other thread about contracts I started thinking about this.

What do you all that take charge cards or perhaps even PayPal that pay with a charge card think about "chargebacks"? ( where the credit company reverses the charge) Worst case scenario obviously.

I haven't taken a card yet, but I have one of those little things that pops into your smartphone for charge cards.

That's a toughie. Wish I could help you.
Guess I'm lucky, in 35 plus years I've only had one bounced check, it was less than $13.

Credit cards can be a game changer (we lose...) for small builders and not just because of the percentage fee paid by us to the card company but instead because of the buyer protections that are a part of many card holder agreements. So we go to the trouble of making a contract or sales agreement dictating and governing the terms of the transaction but if the client pays with a card their remedies in the event of a dispute as per the card holder agreement would make the contract or sales agreement moot. Granted a court may see things differently but until then the card company just reversed the funds out of your account.

Small builders have a HUGE opportunity costs associated with selling commissioned instruments and if something goes south and you built a highly personalized instrument you just may be SOL....
